Lowell reached hurricane status only briefly but still made some great surf by virtue of 800 mile wide winds and threatened to spin around the remnant of Karina in the Fujiwhara effect. The resulting surf was excellent at Malibu but the crowd was brutal. This surfer came streaking in from beyond first point and made the connection all the way in to the last drop and called it a day.
